The current flag of Mississippi was adopted on January 11, 2021. The flag features a white magnolia blossom and the words "In God We Trust" on a red field with a gold-bordered blue pale. It replaces the previous flag that displayed the Confederate battle insignia in the upper left hand corner, which was retired on June 30, 2020.

Mississippi is a U.S. state located in the Southern United States. Mississippi has had three official state flags in its history. The first flag, known as the "Magnolia Flag", was adopted in 1861 and consisted of a "Flag of white ground, a magnolia tree in the centre, a blue field in the upper left hand corner with a white star in the centre, ... with a red border and a red fringe at the extremity of the Flag". The Magnolia Flag was declared to be "null and void" by a state constitutional convention in 1865 and the state was left without an official flag until the second one was adopted in 1894 Wikipedia
