The flag of Zambia was adopted on October 24, 1964.
The Zambian flag was slightly modified in 1996, namely using a lighter shade of green, which stands for natural resources; the red symbolizes the struggle for freedom, the black stands for the people of Zambia, and orange for mineral wealth. The eagle represents the people’s ability to rise above the nation’s problems. The Zambia flag is a National flag of Africa.
It was designed by Mrs Gabriel Ellison, OGDS, MBE, who also designed the national coat of arms and many of Zambia’s stamps. Wikipedia
