As an alternative to the full-course yellow and safety car periods used during other FIA-backed races, the 24H Series uses a series of purple lights and flags to declare a "Code 60" period.

Suited for conditions such as intense UV radiation, moist, salty air and high winds.
The average life expectancy of a flag is between 10 and 12 months with normal wear and tear but will differ with fluctuating weather conditions.
Taking care of your flags will prolong the lifespan and keep them looking good.

• Wash your flags regularly. Dirt can erode fabrics, dull the colours and cause wear

Under "Code 60," overtaking is not allowed and all drivers must slow their cars down to a maximum of 60 km/h (37 mph).
